As the most diverse county in Minnesota, the Ramsey County website has to work hard for many different audiences. But their "residents first" organizational mission was our north star as we slimmed down and refocused content to meet these specific users’ needs.
Designed for Accessibility
To be truly user centered, accessibility must be front and center. To ensure the site could be effectively (and delightfully) used, we developed and designed to meet WCAG and 508 standards — both have strict parameters that require everything from images to colors to code being spot on. By adhering to these guidelines, as well as the County’s plain language initiative, we create an inclusive digital experience.
Developed to Support Their Future Plans
In planning and executing the Ramsey County website, we did everything with their digital roadmap in mind. We began by driving home the thinking that digital isn’t a single part of a plan, it’s a way of thinking. All organizations are now digital organizations, they have to be at the service of their audiences and they have to activate this thinking at every level. These transformations were key to launching something smart and effective now, that can be built upon in the future.
