We funded a scholarship available to attendees of AIGA Minnesota’s recent Portfolio 1-on-1 event and we’re so excited to share the winner: Jeffrey Yang!
About the scholarship
AIGA’s 1-on-1 event is an opportunity for design students to develop connections and receive meaningful feedback on their portfolios from established industry professionals. Attending this event also gives students the opportunity to apply for industry-specific scholarships to support their schooling and budding career. With our Diversity in Digital UI/UX Design scholarship, we wanted to foster diverse talent in the digital design field by supporting Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color designers with ambitions to explore innovation in digital and design thinking.
Our Director of Experience Design, Micah Spieler, who had the honor of selecting the scholarship recipient said Jeffrey’s portfolio stood out because it demonstrated thoughtful digital work and an elegant site design that included a ‘trace your food’ product angle.
“Combining visual design, user experience, and productization effectively is important when designing for the digital era, and Yang’s work showed that combination in action.”
In addition to his impressive design portfolio, Jeffrey is a Marketing and Advertising Instructor for the Brand Lab, an organization dedicated to guiding and preparing diverse students for creative careers.
Thanks to AIGA MN for the opportunity to support emerging experience designers, and have a hand in fostering diversity in our industry. And, high five to Clockwork Designer, Carly Nixon, who was on the planning committee for this great event!
