For this week’s biker profile we have Schu and his Motobecane Super Ten.
Tell us about your bike.
I cruise around on an old Motobecane Super Ten. It was love at first sight. The only problem was it belonged to my brother. He’s a collector of sorts so once the Super Ten started to have problems he sold it to me and moved on to one of his newer bikes. I fixed it up but kept most of the bike stock, just updated the color scheme.
Tell us about your commute.
Home -> side streets -> park -> bridge -> loading dock -> Clockwork.
It’s a quick commute but its very pretty and incredibly relaxing. Pretty, but not always in the traditional sense; I love seeing variety and I get a whole-lotta that on my ride. I get to see neighbors in the morning getting ready for their commute, park maintenance men prepping the baseball fields, early morning smokers at factories I pass and a nice shot of traffic heading into the city. On the way home I zoom through the empty loading docks, nod to the evening smokers at the factories, and on average see 2 – 3 baseball, softball, or kickball games going on… every now and then a few horse-shoe’rs show up.
Why do you ride?
Enjoyment… health is a great benefit too, but mainly enjoyment. I find it calms me, gives me time to think and reflect. Plus, its just fun – who doesn’t like biking?
