Last Friday, Clockwork awarded a scholarship to a very deserving student at the AIGA portfolio 1-on-1 competition. Other agencies that awarded scholarships as well were Franke+Fiorella, Smartpress, and Little.

What’s significant, and unique, about the Clockwork scholarship is that students needed to have a minimum of 3 digital pieces, which could include (but are not limited to):

  • Websites
  • Mobile Applications
  • Email Newsletter Design
  • Game Design
  • Location-aware and Augmented Reality Experiences
  • Motion and Environmental Design
  • Kiosk and Touchscreen Experience Design
  • Online Advertising (Banner/Rich Media Ads, etc.)

One portfolio stood out from the crowd when it came to digital work. That was the portfolio of Leonardo Cleto, who is in his senior year at Fort Hays State University in Kansas. His portfolio was presented on an iPad and included brand development, website, and app samples. It was a very well rounded portfolio that had great thinking and explanation around the concepts and ideas. Mostly significantly for our scholarship, it showed that he is definitely interested in what digital has to offer.

his work had movement and transitions that showed how far he’d thought through the execution of his ideas and showed that he understands how animation can take a digital experience over the top.

Congratulations, Leonardo! Welcome to the crazy, fun, and always-changing world of digital!
